Back to Work!

Hi Friends!
I sure hope your holidays were peaceful, happy and relaxing!  We were surrounded by friends and family celebrating the holiday for well over a week and feel so lucky because of it.  My kids are happily playing with all the new toys, and this post Holiday Monday finds me able to think "Bare Feet" again.....today I am prepping for VALENTINE'S DAY and it feels great!  Mom's Camp will be announced soon...just getting my ducks all nicely "rowed" up.

Crafting friends!

Tonight was one of the best nights a girl could have.  My best friends in the whole world, under one roof, crafting, eating, talking, sharing!  I feel so lucky to have such good friends.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Today we were BUSY.  We made two kinds of cookies, wrapped a present we have worked on for three weeks, colored in a Gingerbread House, had cocoa and watched "Frosty The Snowman."  Today was one of my student's last day in Tuesday Camp, as her plans are changing for next semester...she passed out presents to all her friends, so sweet.  Her spot is available, Tuesdays 2:30-5:00.

Note the tongue out, for better concentration!

 Ginger Cookies!  YUM!

 Presents to pass out!

My trusty helper, melting white chocolate to dip with!

34 Christmas Pillowcases in December!

Phew.  I made 34 pillowcases with kids this month (really 37, 3 kids were absent, but WHO'S counting, besides me)....don't believe me??? LOL --check IT OUT!

BUSY!

Four camps last week, three this week and little time for posting!  I promise to have some photos up soon of all these fun Christmas Camps we are having.
Also, several available spots in the Mom's Night Out Christmas Camp on Tues the 21st.  This is the same camp as the Mom's Camp I had a couple of weeks ago, just giving more people a chance for the fun!  We really had a great time and I hope you can join us.

Boy's Christmas Camp!

Boys Christmas Camp was so fun!  We were BUSY!  The boys went home with "party bags" with a few trinkets from me, and all the treasures they made at camp, including: A Charlie Brown Christmas Pillowcase, a box of handdipped "thin mint cookies", and a super cute cupcake ornament for their tree!  We made hot cocoa with marshmallows and they each made their own gingerbread cookie that they ate on the couch at the end of camp while watching "Frosty The Snowman"...we read some Christmas books and played a couple Christmas Song games at the very end.  What a fun day.

Life is good!

Mom's Night Christmas Camp!

I had such fun with a group of women last week at our Mom's Night Out Christmas Camp. We ate and drank and were merry too.  And creative!  We liked it so much that I will for sure do it again, maybe Valentine's Day? :)  Or what about a camp donated at Hooker Oak School's Auction?  Ideas, ideas!

Tuesday Camp

My daughter, who attends Tuesday Camp, said this was her favorite camp yet!  We are gearing up for the holidays around here and stayed busy today.  The girls did Stage 1 of a secret present they are making for their parents, which will end in a beautifully wrapped box for them to put under the tree for Mom/Dad.  They also finished their Holly Berry Trivets (Thank you Grandma D for operating the glue gun for us) AND made a super cute Christmas pillowcase.  Check out my "silly gooses" below:

We read three holiday books together and sampled the fudge I made for "Mom's Night Out Christmas Camp" on Thursday.
There is a spot becoming available in this camp next semester.  Please contact me if you are interested in sending your daughter to weekly Tuesday Camp.
Cheers!

Thanksgiving is around the corner!

This week at camps we are thinking THANKSGIVING!  3 camps this week will be making Turkey Hand Print Hot Pad holders.  Below is my daughter, Alex, working on hers.

And here are a couple of the finished projects.

Our craft went fairly fast this week, so we made a batch of mini-chocolate cupcakes, and ate a couple while warm of course!

Thanksgiving Camp

Today I had my first of monthly Holiday Camps with the sweetest group of girls!  We made Turkey Handprint Hot Pad Holders, Turkey containers to hold pretzels we dipped in chocolate, and we made Conversation Starter baskets, plus had time to read 2 Thanksgiving storybooks and do a little singing with Tatjana!  In this photo the girls are concentrating as they make paper feathers to adorn their Turkey Pretzel containers :)  We talked today about how excited we are to meet again for Christmas Camp next month.

Spots left in 2 Christmas Camps

Currently there is one spot left in my Boys Christmas Camp on Dec. 6th.

Three spots are left in the Thursday, Dec. 9th Christmas Camp for girls!  Contact me if you would like a spot for your child.  More details from these camps can be found on previous posts.

Conversation Starter Baskets!

We wove Thanksgiving scrapbook paper through strawberry baskets, added felt to the bottom and put our last name initials on the front of these festive baskets today.  Then the girls wrote down questions, tongue twisters and jokes on paper leaves and filled their baskets with them, so that guests at Thanksgiving dinner can pull leaves and read them aloud.  We did it tonight at dinner with my family and we were all laughing before long.

Halloween Pretzels!

This is a really fun and easy craft to do with kids!  My 1st/2nd graders made these tins today and the pretzels too.

In true Open Structure style, I put the "big ones" to work helping the "little ones" today.

Christmas Camps in the works!

ahhhhh.  I have the whole morning off to work on crafts for Christmas Camps.  I will be posting the dates soon....please email me if you are interested in sending your kiddo over for an afternoon of Christmas fun!

Boys' Camp

Today I had my very first camp for Boys!  Finally!  I have had several mothers requesting it.  They were such a complete joy to work with.  Several sewed for the first time, which is always such an honor to be a part of.  We made pillowcases, "lanterns" and spider handprints.  And since this was a Holiday Camp, party bags were in order!

Easy Pumpkin Lollipops

These little pumpkin lollipops are as easy as they look.  Small orange tissue paper square (use pinking shears if you can), lollipops and green pipcleaners.  A black pen finishes the face.  Wrap the pipe cleaner around the base of the lollipop so that one end is much longer than the other, then curl the long end around a pencil to produce a "viney" look.
We are making them this week at the Kindergarten/1st Grade Halloween Party this week.

Felting!

Today my Kindergarten Girls learned to needle punch felt.  The added orange and green wool to their brown purses I made them and formed pumpkins.  Then we went on a scavenger hunt and found fun things to add to their purses, tissue, smarties, a comb.....and of course a "Creations License" instead of a Driver's License.

Spiders!

We made tissue spiders today.  Creepy!

Halloween Camp for Girls!

Today I had 8 new students at a special One Day Halloween Camp!  The girls were so well behaved and I think had such a great time. We made spider handprints and mummy lanterns.  When I asked one of them their favorite part, she said "All of it!"  Most girls thought sewing their new pillowcases was the best part.

They are so excited to sleep on their pillowcases TONIGHT.  Several girls sewed for the first time and it is so cool to see their pride when they look at the result.  What an honor for me.
We did some fun singing games with the time we had left over after crafting.  It was so fun to see them come out of their shells a bit and make new friends.

Thanks to the parents, several of whom I didn't know too well, who entrust me with their lovely daughters for the afternoon.  They made my day.

What happened in Camp this week?

My older girls made OWL COOKIES!

And they finished their "Stain Glass" spooky Halloween decorations:

My Kindergarteners made Spider Handprint Mini-quilts and enjoyed a Halloween party complete with a 20 minute Max and Ruby video as a special treat!  These girls are my snugglers:  They go to my cupboard of quilts and pick out one to cuddle under every week.  I adore them.
